Grade 2

Today, I had my Grade 2 exam 10.36am till 10.49am at One World Hotel. Its a lovely hotel. I was escorted to the waiting room at 10am. After settling my registration at the counter ( the lady at the counter was really nice :) I sat down to tune my guitar. Bright sunrays entered the room which made it lively. A few other very nervous looking students were there, either fiddling with their guitar strings or staring blankly into space with a pathetic look. Am I the only unpressured one here?" I thought to myself. Then, Mr Lim arrived!

Teach: Tuned your guitar?

Me: Yea.....

Teach: Don't worry la...sure can get good grade

Me: I hope so 0_0 *imagines dramatic music*

Teach: Okok, warm up a bit

2 minutes passed as I was playing a few scales to refresh my mind. Then, the lady at the counter smiled at me.

Me: Oh no 0_0

Teach: *smiles*

Lady: It's your turn.

Teach:Haha! Good luck!

Me: *gulp* Let's get this over with

We walked pass a few rooms. When we reached "the room", the student inside wasn't exactly finished so had to wait outside. The silence only increased suspense. I decided to start a conversation with the lady. Small talk. The wooden door opened and the guy inside came out holding his guitar by the fret board. And he didn't look "calm". Most probably he wanted to get it over with. Like me! The friendly examiner invited me in after that

Examiner: Ahh another guitarist! Hello, how are you?

Me: Yeah. Hi ! Im good.

Examiner: Just make yourself comfortable.

Me: Uh huh

I started with the scales. I fumbled my D# .

Me: Oh...erm...I really messed that up.

Examiner: Its ok try it again.

Me: What ? Repeat it?

Examiner: Yes

Me: Great!

" You've got to be kidding me!" I thought to myself. Getting another chance is super rare in exams.
Using the opportunity, I aced in the second time! Satisfied, we moved on to the three songs I had to play. Comanche, Licence To Chill and Freestyling. I did pretty good for all. Though, my fingers started hassitating at times. Side reading was next. I had to play a piece spontaneosly. And I obviously suck at that. I did my best though!

Waiting for the next few questions, I had stand behind the black piano. After he played a melody, I had to

1. Clap the beat
2. State the dinamic change
3. The melody is in major or minor?
4. Is the last note higher, lower or the same as the fisrt note

I did ok for the melody stuff. And finally....

Examiner: Thank you *smiles*

Me: Huh? o.O

Examiner: Thank you the exam is over.

Me: Oh, wow! Really? That's good.

Examiner: Bye!

Me: Buh-bye!

I went out ot the room holding my guitar by its fretboard and returned to the waiting room to collect my one of a kind gig bag. Haha! Perasan... Anyway,

Teach: So, how was it?

Me: Scary...the examiner looked a bit like Dumbledore.

Teach: Oh, haha! What about the scales and songs and side reading?

Me: I was all good. But I kind of flunked the side reading

Teach: Nevermind la...have you called your dad?

Me: Yea Im going to

Teach: Ok! See you tommorrow!

When I was waiting by the door of the waiting room, two rather friendly men were outside.

Man: Hey, your going to take exam? *airguitars*

Me: Taken already.

Man: Oh. Grade?

Me: 2 only.....

Man: Great!

He looked like the hotel manager ( One of them atleast ) and he had the name tag and stuff.
My dad came as usual, in a happy mood. All I could say was " The exam...it was good". Haha!
Well, we came back home and the pressure's off. Poor Rashika got chicken pox. And I haven't decided if it's good or bad. Haha!
